Each rug in this collection is hand-tufted in India from 100 percent premium wool. In hand-tufting, craftsmen use tools called tufting guns to individually insert each tuft into its place on the rug's predetermined pattern. The tufts are then trimmed and sheared to the appropriate length. Hand-tufting offers high density, a thick pile, and a plush feel.
Once crafted, Safavieh Antiquities rugs are given a special herb wash for a distinctive luster, an aged patina, and an authentic touch, making them unique among rugs of their kind.
